What happens if there are issues with my order?

What if my funeral home refuses delivery of the casket?
To ensure fair trade and consumer protection, the Federal Trade Commission’s Funeral Rule obligates funeral homes to accept caskets from third parties like Overnight Caskets. Funeral homes also cannot charge additional service fees for receiving your orders. If delivery issues do arise, our logistic experts will contact the local funeral home directly to resolve the situation quickly.
For air transport, can I transport the casket from the airport myself?
Yes, you may transport the casket from the airport to avoid last-mile courier expenses. A cargo van or utility truck with cargo restraints is required to ensure safe delivery. Our logistic experts can help coordinate pickup arrangements.
Do you offer free delivery?
Yes, we offer free nationwide standard 3-5 day shipping, excluding Alaska and Hawaii, which generally takes longer.
What kind of packaging do you use?
Overnight Caskets uses a custom packing system that combines a contoured styrofoam cardboard casket container with an external shipping box of durable plywood. We designed our packaging system to prevent damage during storage, loading, and unloading. In most instances, the receiving funeral home will discard any shipping material. In the unlikely event of an issue, our logistic experts will work with the funeral home directly to resolve the situation.

Disclaimer: Orders must be placed by 1pm EST cutoff time to guarantee next day delivery. Any orders placed on Friday after the 1pm EST cutoff time, Saturday or Sunday will not be processed until the following Monday. We advise shipping directly to the funeral home as residential delivery could delay transit time. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.
What if the funeral home will not accept the casket?
According to Federal Trade Commission’s Funeral Rule (https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0300-ftc-funeral-rule) , to encourage fair trade and protection for the consumers, the funeral homes have no choice but to accept any caskets you chose whether from a third party vendor or not. Moreover, they cannot institute any extra fees or costs to accept caskets from a third party vendor.
What kind of packaging do you use?
Our caskets are packaged in a Styrofoam contoured cardboard box, which is then put in a plywood box. This packaging is made specifically to prevent any type of damage when loading and unloading the casket. Please note, very few funeral homes require the customer or transportation company to dispose the packaging of the delivered casket. If the funeral home has such a requirement, please do not be worried.
Customers have 2 choices:
1. Do it yourself - At the time of delivery, take away packaging and dispose it yourself. The packaging is a cardboard box (can be folded up) and styrofoam (can be easily cut or broken into pieces). The packaging can then be taken away and desposed of.
2. The delivery company can take packaging away for a $35 fee. Please let us know at the time of purchase if you require the packaging disposal service (This service may not be available for some areas. Customer will not be charged for this service until we have confirmed the packaging has been disposed by the delivery company.)
Please note: If Overnight Caskets has not been informed prior to the purchsae about the disposal requirement, we cannot instruct the driver to take away packaging.
For air transport, can I transport the casket from the airport myself?
Yes you may transport the casket from the airport yourself to save on courier expenses.. You will need to have a suitable vehicle to transport such as a cargo van or a pickup truck with cargo restraints. Please contact us to coordinate pickup arrangements.

What does the "gauge" number on metal caskets mean?
The gauge of a metal refers to its thickness. Just remember that a lower gauge number means a thicker metal. For instance, 18 gauge metal is thicker than 20 gauge metal. Note that higher gauge steel is often associated with high prices.
What is a sealer or gasket casket?
The gasket is rubberized material used to help keep caskets imperviable to the elements. This is not a guarantee against a casket’s natural deterioration or its contents. Sometimes, a gasket sealer is required for interstate transportation of remains by air, sea, or rail. All of our steel caskets come with a gasket standard at no additional charge.
